Course Description: This presentation will provide participants with current views on treatment and interventions for children, adults and geriatric patients with a diagnosis of bipolar disorder.

Learning Outcomes: After completing this activity, the participant will be able to:

1. Describe signs and symptoms of bipolar disorder in children, adults and geriatric patients.
2. Differentiate and analyze various etiologies and manifestations of the disease.
3. Create a nursing concept map care plan that addresses the needs of the patient with bipolar disorder.
4. Identify different treatment modalities for the patient with bipolar disorder.
5. Identify client and family teaching needs to prevent relapse.
6. Critically appraise new research regarding bipolar disorder treatments.
