Course Description: This course discusses inclusion criteria for a diagnosis of ARDS, biological mechanisms associated with lung injuries and injurious mechanical ventilation strategies.

Learning Objectives: At the end of this presentation, the learner will be able to:
- List inclusion criteria for ARDS.
- Describe VILI.
- Discuss the biological mechanisms associated with lung injury.
- Identify injurious mechanical ventilation strategies.

Credit Statements:
Licensed Nurses: Upstate AHEC is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Upon successful completion of this program, participants will receive 1.0 nursing continuing professional development hours.
Respiratory Care Practitioners: 1.0 clock hours will be awarded by Upstate AHEC, an approved provider of continuing education for respiratory care practitioners by the SC Board of Medical Examiners.
