Course Description: This course will define NPPV in colloquial terms as well as proprietary labels. The presenter will discuss indications for NPPV by examining the evidence for common uses as well as exploring concepts of emerging applications. Contraindications for NPPV therapy and concepts of why these contraindications exist will be explored. Finally, the presenter will identify clinical successes with NPPV therapy, as well as methods to improve success and enhance the patient/ventilator experience.

Length of Course: 60 minutes
Licensed Nurses: Upstate AHEC is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Upon successful completion of this program, participants will receive 1.0 nursing continuing professional development hours.
Respiratory Care Practitioners: 1.0 clock hours will be awarded by Upstate AHEC, an approved provider of continuing education for respiratory care practitioners by the SC Board of Medical Examiners.
