This course is a contract course only. Must be scheduled through a manager or educator. This course cannot be taken by an individual participant.
Course Description: This course is intended to make participants will be more knowledgeable about IV therapy, gain the skills to perform IV therapy and increase their ability to initiate, monitor and observe for complications of IV therapy. Upon completion of this program participants will receive a certificate indicating they have completed and passed IV therapy training.

Target Audience: Licensed Nurses, Medical Assistants, and other healthcare providers who administer IV Therapy
Learning Outcomes: After completing this activity, the participant will be able to:
Identify lifespan considerations related to IV therapy.
Identify anatomy and physiology of arteries, veins, capillaries and the skin as they relate to IV therapy.
Demonstrate proper vein selection for IV therapy.
Describe complications and considerations for IV therapy.
Identify IV solutions and their proper usage.
Demonstrate proper use of the tourniquet.
Demonstrate proper vein dilation.
.Demonstrate safe and proper IV venipuncture.
Length of Course: 80 minutes of online lecture + 4 hours of online lab time with lab check-off
Credit Statements:
Licensed Nurses: Upstate AHEC is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
Upon successful completion of this program, attendees will receive 5.3 contact hours
Certified Medical Assistants: This program, #136073, has been granted prior approval by the American Association of Medial Assistants (AAMA) for 5.5 C credit. Granting approval in no way constitutes endorsement by the AAMA of the program content of the program's sponsor.
AHEC Credit: This educational offering provides 0.53 CEUs (5.3 clock hour) by Upstate AHEC and meets SC AHEC Best Practice Standards.

Credit Requirements: To receive CE credit for completing this online course you must complete 100% of the material, receive at least 80% passing grade on post-test, complete the evaluation, and pass the live competency demonstration.
Once you pass the post-test, lab competency, and complete the evaluation you will be able to print a certificate for verification of credit.
